Best Medicine Reminder App in 2026: 6 Options Compared
The best medicine reminder app depends on who it is for. MyTherapy is a strong free pick, Apple Health Medications suits iPhone users, Medisafe has the broadest feature list in the US, and Cureva is best for families and caregivers, with missed dose alerts to family, a doctor ready PDF and 23 languages.
Searching for the best medicine reminder app turns up dozens of lists that rank the same apps in a different order. This one is different in two ways. Every competitor fact below links to the company's own website, help centre or store listing, and where we could not confirm something, we say "Not listed". And we tell you who each app is best for, including the cases where it is not Cureva. We checked every listing on October 7, 2026. Apps change prices and features often, so confirm on the store page before you pay.

How we chose
We started from the apps people in Canada and the US actually find when they search for a pill or medication reminder, then kept only those with a live listing we could open on October 7, 2026. For each app we read the company's own site or store page and recorded five things that matter in daily use:
- Does the reminder persist? A single buzz is easy to swipe away. Follow up reminders matter more than design.
- Can you log Taken or Skipped? Without a log there is no history for you, your family or your doctor.
- Does anyone else find out about a missed dose? This is the gap most apps leave open.
- Is there something to bring to the doctor? A report beats scrolling through a phone in a ten minute appointment.
- What does it really cost, and where? Prices differ between the US and Canada, and that changed in 2026.
We did not use review sites, paid placements or affiliate deals. Cureva makes this list, and we say plainly where it is behind.
We also looked for Round Health and Dosecast, two well known pill reminders. When we checked Apple's US App Store on October 7, 2026, neither had a live listing we could open, so we left them out rather than describe an app you may not be able to download.
The 6 apps, and who each one suits
MyTherapy
Best for: a free reminder app that also tracks measurements and symptoms.
MyTherapy's website describes reminders for medications, measurements, doctor's appointments and symptom checks, a log of whether each dose was taken or skipped, refill alerts, and tracking of blood sugar, blood pressure and weight. You can generate a health report and medication plan for your doctor. It is on iOS and Google Play, in 14 languages, and the company says it will remain free.
Watch out for: family or caregiver features are not listed on its homepage, so nobody else hears about a missed dose.
Apple Health Medications
Best for: people who only use Apple devices and want reminders built in.
Apple's support page explains that the Health app can hold your medications, vitamins and supplements, remind you at dose times, and send a follow up reminder if you have not logged a medication 30 minutes after the first notification. In the US it shows interactions between your medications. If you share health data with family, you can include your medications, and you can export a PDF of your current list.
Watch out for: it only works on iPhone, iPad and Apple Watch, so an Android family member is left out, and some scheduling options need iOS 18 or later.
Cureva
Best for: families and caregivers who need to know when a dose is missed.
Cureva is a personal and family health companion built around medication reminders. What sets it apart is what happens around the reminder:
- Alarm style reminders. A dose reminder repeats at 5 and 10 minutes until the dose is logged. Android shows a full screen alarm; iPhone uses time sensitive notifications.
- Missed dose alerts to family. If a dose goes unconfirmed, linked caregivers get a push notification. You can link up to 5 family members and up to 5 professional caregivers, each with their own permissions. See how caregiver alerts work.
- A daily check in by name. Eva, the companion inside Cureva, sends a morning check in using your first name, and you can log mood and symptoms.
- A doctor ready PDF. Adherence for each medicine, blood pressure and glucose readings, symptoms and mood check ins. You email it to a saved doctor or share it with a 72 hour link. Nothing is sent without you.
- Interaction flags from FDA labels. Cureva compares your medicines against official US FDA drug label text and tells you when it cannot check a medicine. Confirm anything it flags with your pharmacist.
- 23 languages, including French, Punjabi, Hindi, Urdu, Tagalog and Spanish, plus refill reminders and flexible schedules (daily, every few days, chosen weekdays, weekly, several times a day).
Watch out for: it is new. Cureva is in early access: Android is on Google Play, iOS is coming to the App Store, and the waitlist is open at cureva.app/waitlist. Family alerts are push notifications, not text messages, so each caregiver needs the app. Interaction flags use US labels only. See how Cureva medication reminders work.
Medisafe
Best for: people in the US who want the broadest feature set.
The App Store listing lists medication reminders, drug to drug interaction warnings, refill reminders, a shared view of the family's pillboxes, tracking of blood glucose, blood pressure, weight, pulse and temperature, PDF report sharing and an Apple Watch app, in English and 15 other languages. It is also on Google Play.
Watch out for: Medisafe's help centre says it became a fully paid app outside the United States from January 1, 2026, at $4.99 USD a month or $39.99 USD a year. That includes Canada. Read our full Cureva vs Medisafe comparison.
Pillo
Best for: Android users who want family told by text message.
Pillo says it is free with unlimited medications. It lists flexible schedules, refill reminders, dose history, an interaction checker using FDA drug data, caregiver connections with SMS alerts for missed doses, and tracking of blood pressure, glucose, weight and more. This is one area where Pillo does something Cureva does not: Cureva's family alerts are push notifications only.
Watch out for: iOS is a waitlist on its site, so iPhone users cannot use it yet. Read our Cureva vs Pillo comparison.
CareClinic
Best for: people managing several conditions who want charts and a full health record.
CareClinic combines medication reminders and adherence tracking with blood pressure and blood sugar trackers, symptom charts, health records and reports to share with providers. Its App Store listing mentions inviting caregivers and dependents, support for supplements and tapering doses, and English plus 72 other languages. It runs on iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple Watch, Android and the web.
Watch out for: the listing shows subscriptions from $5.99 to $79.99, and there is a lot to set up if you only need pill reminders. Read our Cureva vs CareClinic comparison.
What actually matters in a medicine reminder app
The World Health Organization reported that adherence to long term therapies for chronic disease averages only 50% in developed countries. A reminder helps, but the features that close the gap are the ones around the reminder:
- Persistence. Look for follow up alerts. Cureva repeats at 5 and 10 minutes; Apple Health follows up at 30 minutes.
- A real log. Taken and Skipped taps with a time give you something to review with your doctor or pharmacist.
- A second person. For an older parent, the most useful feature is often someone else finding out. Our guide to the best medication reminder app for the elderly goes deeper.
- A schedule you can trust. If you are setting up several medicines, our free medication schedule maker helps you lay it out first.
- Honest pricing. Check the price in your country, not just the US price.
A reminder app does not replace your pharmacist
No app on this list tells you how to change, space or double a dose. Use the reminder to follow the plan your doctor or pharmacist gave you, and ask them before changing anything.
