Medication non-adherence is estimated to cost the US healthcare system $100 to $300 billion a year, direct and indirect costs combined, according to Bosworth et al., American Heart Journal, 2011. Many seniors manage complex medication regimens, often alone. They forget. They get confused. They run out of refills. And nobody knows until something goes wrong.

Existing apps set an alarm and walk away. Hiring a caregiver can cost thousands of dollars a month. Most families fall in the gap between those two extremes, with nobody watching, nobody alerting, and no easy way for a doctor to know what is really happening at home.

Our story

Why we built this.

Cureva started with a question: why is it so hard for a family to know whether their aging parent took their medication this morning? The technology to check in, to alert, to track, to report already existed. It just was not assembled into something a real family could actually use.

We built Eva because the gap between a phone alarm and a live-in nurse is enormous, and that gap is where most families live. Adult children managing their parents' care from a distance. Seniors who want independence but need a little watching. Doctors who cannot know what is happening between visits. We know that gap personally: both of us care for our own parents from a distance, and we live with the same worry.

Eva fills that gap. She checks in every morning. She tracks every dose. She alerts the right family member the moment something looks off. She writes the doctor's report automatically. And she is built right here in Surrey, BC, Canada.
