An accessible medication reminder app,
including for color blind users.
Cureva is a medication reminder app built to be easier to see and use. It has a colour blind mode that swaps teal and red for blue and orange, text that follows your phone’s text size setting, bold text, reduce motion and haptic feedback, and the whole app runs in 23 languages.
A medication reminder app
for color blind users.
Many health apps use green for a dose that was taken and red for one that was missed. That is hard to read for a lot of people. About 1 in 12 men have color vision deficiency, and the most common type makes red and green hard to tell apart (National Eye Institute).
Teal and red become blue and orange.
Turn on colour blind mode and Cureva swaps its teal and red for blue and orange, a pair that stays distinct for red and green colour blindness and for blue and yellow colour blindness. Status is also written in words, Taken or Skipped, so colour is never the only clue.
The accessibility features
Cureva has today.
These are the features in the app now. We list only what we have built.
Large text that follows your phone
Cureva uses the text size you set on your phone. Make it bigger in your phone settings and Cureva grows with it, which helps with a large text medication app for seniors.
Bold text
Heavier letters make reminders, medicine names and buttons easier to read at a glance.
Reduce motion
Calmer transitions and fewer animations for people who find movement on screen tiring or dizzying.
Haptic feedback
A small vibration confirms a tap, so you know a dose was logged without staring at the screen.
Alarm-style reminders
Reminders ring like an alarm and follow up at 5 and 10 minutes, instead of one easy to miss buzz.
23 languages
Reading health information in your first language is an accessibility feature too. Cureva runs in 23 languages, from French and Spanish to Punjabi and Tagalog.
How to make Cureva’s text bigger
iPhone
Open Settings, then Accessibility, then Display and Text Size, then Larger Text, and drag the slider. Bold Text is on the same screen.
Android
Open Settings, then Display or Accessibility, then Font size. The exact menu names vary by phone maker.
Open Cureva
Cureva picks up the new size. Turn on colour blind mode and reduce motion inside the app if they help.
Small choices that
make it easier to use.
Accessibility is also about how much effort each task takes. Logging a dose is one tap on Taken. When several medicines are due at the same time, they arrive as one grouped alert instead of a pile of notifications. Quiet hours keep the night calm, and reminders follow up at 5 and 10 minutes, so one missed sound is not the end of it. Medicines can be added by typing, by scanning the barcode, or by taking a photo of the pill for a suggestion that you then check against the label. If a family member helps, they can be linked and, if you allow it, log a dose on your behalf. None of this needs a special senior mode; it is how the app works for everyone.
