A daily check-in and health app
for seniors who live alone.
Cureva is a personal and family health companion for older adults who live alone and the family who check on them from a distance. Eva sends a daily check-in by first name, medicine reminders ring like an alarm, and linked family get a push if a dose goes unconfirmed or a reading is out of range.
More older adults
live on their own.
Living alone is common and often a real choice to stay independent. In Canada, 4.4 million people lived alone in 2021, and solo dwellers made up 42% of people aged 85 and older in private households (Statistics Canada, 2022). For their families the worry is usually simple: is the day going okay, and are the pills being taken?

A check-in app for an elderly parent
who lives alone.
Cureva is not a camera or a sensor. It is an app your parent uses on their own phone, and it keeps the family loosely in the loop.
A daily check-in from Eva
Eva, the companion inside Cureva, greets your parent by first name and asks how they are. They answer good, okay or not good. If they answer not good and choose to notify you, you get a push.
Reminders that ring
Each dose rings like an alarm and follows up at 5 and 10 minutes until it is logged. On Android it can fill the lock screen with a looping sound.
A push when a dose is missed
If a dose is still unconfirmed after a short grace period, linked family get a push naming the medicine and the time. A quiet day shows up as missed doses, which is often the first sign to call.
Readings that need attention
If your parent logs a blood pressure, blood sugar or heart rate reading that is out of range, they and the caregivers allowed to see vitals get a push.
A regular report
Each family member can choose a weekly, biweekly or monthly summary by email and push.
Works without signal
Doses, readings and check-ins logged with no signal are saved and synced later. A new phone picks up the same reminders after sign in.
Three steps,
ideally on a visit.
Add the medicines
Type each name, scan the barcode, or take a photo of the pill for a suggestion, then check it against the label. A printed schedule on the fridge helps too.
Set the times
Match the times to their real day. Quiet hours keep the night calm.
Link the family
Your parent invites you and chooses what you can see. Brothers, sisters and a visiting nurse can each be linked.
Help without
taking over.
Most people who live alone want to keep doing so, and they do not want to feel watched. Cureva is built around that. Your parent decides who is linked and what each person can see, whether a caregiver may log or edit doses, and whether vitals are shared at all. Family do not get a live feed of their day. They get the things that usually matter: a missed dose, a worrying reading, and, if your parent chooses, a note that today is not a good day. That balance tends to make the conversation easier, because the app is something your parent controls rather than something done to them.
What Cureva does
and what it does not.
What Cureva does
- Sends a daily check-in by first name
- Rings for each dose and follows up
- Pushes linked family when a dose goes unconfirmed or a reading is out of range
- Shares dose history only with the people your parent picks
What Cureva does not do
- It does not detect falls
- It does not call emergency services for anyone
- Alerts are push notifications, not text messages, and they are not instant
- An unanswered check-in does not alert family on its own
In an emergency, call your local emergency number. Cureva is a gentle daily signal, not a medical alert system.
